Exhibition Reviews
National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
Gwacheon - si, South Korea (Opened 1969)
The exhibitions were divided into separate virtual tours which depended on where each piece was displayed within the museum. This allows the public to navigate through the collections on display easily and doesn't cause you to get lost. I did find it hard to see what artist made the pieces that I found eye-catching. I also found it hard to get close to the pieces to get a better understanding of what they were about and what media was used to make them. Angles were another problem I faced because when I got close to an piece in particular I would often not be able to get a clear, face on view. This is something that is important to me because I want t try and get an understanding on how large the image is in relation to the pieces around it. I found the overall experience easy to work with and the works on display were evenly spaced out, but I found examining the pieces difficult.

This exhibition is another example of effective virtual experience in a Museum setting and was made easy for the public to navigate around. However just like the previous exhibition it was hard to examine the pieces that I wanted. I found it hard to get close to the images and I couldn't quite see who the artists were. I also found it hard to get a grasp over the size of each piece.

Even though there wasn't much Fine Art and Contemporary photography in the virtual exhibition, I did find the overall virtual exhibition the easiest to navigate and explore. It was also the most engaging out of the other exhibitions that I had looked at. The layout was that of a timeline which allowed you to explore items from specific time periods . You could also choose what genre to explore which were:
- Art and Design
- Living and Dying
- Power and Identity
- Religion and Belief
- Trade and Conflict
I found this very useful because as someone who is studying Art and Design I want to be able to find pieces that relate to this easily.
After looking at these exhibitions I began to think how I would exhibit my work at the end of my project.
- Take my images out to the public
- Artsteaps
